-r.~
sultant company for Energy Fuels Corp., during the summer of
1975. The findings are in Table EII-15, Site Specific
Analysis of the original NWCCRES.
Benthic Macro invertebrates
According to a report by Wentz (1974), mayflies and midges
are the two most common benthic macro invertebrates found
in the study area. Other aquatic invertebrates in the
analysis area include stoneflies, caddisflies, and black
flies (Wentz 1974).
Dames and Moore established a series of aquatic sampling
stations within the Subject area in 1975 (Table 21).
These sights were monitored in July, August, and September
1975 (Table 22).
During the study period, Foidel was a small meandering
creek that, in August, 1975 averaged 1.5 feet in width
at the upper station and 3.5 feet wide at the lower
station. Bottom substrata was mostly silt and clay;
little gravel was present. Aquatic macrophytes were com-
mon at the lower station and .consisted of Common Cattail
(Typha latifolia), Mint (Mentha arvensis), Brook grass
(Catabrosa aquatica), Horsetail (Equisetum arvense), and
pondweed (Potamogeton sp.). Pools created by beaver
dams were common along Foidel Creek, but flowing water
was reduced to only a trickle, perhaps 4 to 6 inches wide,
in September 1975.
103
