Recreation <br />The major impact on coal lease application C-22677 could <br />be the loss of angling opportunities in Trout and Fish <br />Creeks. Increases in sedimentation from mining could <br />disrupt these two fisheries which in turn could adversely <br />affect fishing opportunities downstream <br />Also noise and other mining operations could displace the <br />ducks that now nest along Trout and Fish Creeks adjacent <br />to the tract, thereby creating a loss of viewing oppor- <br />tunities in the area. <br />All three coal lease applications are for the most part <br />closed to recreation use and therefore no on-site recre- <br />ation activities would be impacted. The lease applications <br />are visible from county roads in the area and some <br />travelers may view the mine as a human interest feature, <br />others may dislike the visual contrast the mine makes with <br />the natural landscape. <br />The ability to view elk which concentrate in the area of <br />coal lease applications C-22644 and C-26913 could be <br />hampered by the encroachment of mining activities on these <br />parcels. <br />The removal of overburden would uncover cultural materials, <br />fossils, and rockhounding materials, and some of this ma- <br />129 <br />
