COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
Water Quality Control Division
Addendum - Page 5
Permit Number: CO-0027154
EFFLUENT LIMITATIONS: (Cont'd.)

_ .. r~A
~~
5~ ` ~ a. ~•:;~L~..,:~~1 Ala
H`OT ~'~~ f9G1:~iir1~ bwi
3/ In compliance with [he "Regulations for implemention of the Colorado
Salinity Standards Through the CDPS Permit Program", the permittee shall
sample for salinity in the wastewater effluent on a monthly basis until six
samples have been analyzed. Thereafter, monitoring shall continue on a
quarterly basis. The Division will review the first six months of data and
determine if a waiver of numeric limitations can be granted based on the
salt-load to the river being less than one ton/day (or 350 tons/year). If a
waiver is not granted, then the permittee has an additional six months to
submit a report in accordance with the Salinity Regulations, addressing
economic feasab111ty of salt-removal.
Compliance with the effluent limitations in Table 2, for discharge point 005
shall begin on January 1, 1984. This date is the time specified by the
permittee for discharge to commence from the underground mine. 1'he
limitations are designed to become effective at the time when mine discharge
goes to pond D or to Foidel Creek if pond D is not used.
Since the permit is in effect until December, 1985, and since BAT limitations
for coal mines must become effective no later than July 1, 1984, the permit is
also being modified to incorporate BAT limits for discharge points 001, 002,
003, 004, 006, 007, 008 and 014.
