PAGE TWO
DAN :~lATHEWS
NOVEMBER 26, 1969
during the active mining phase. The applicant will field
monitor the above surface water sites for parameters
of temperature, pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen.
Flow will be visually checked at each of these sites
noting no flow, low, moderate or high flow. Flow
readings will be taken from the weir at site S444 when
available.
The applicant will attempt to collect samples from each
of these sites once during each year in response to a
storm event. These analyses will be taken only during
the active mining phase. The sites will be field
monitored for temperature, pH, conductivity and dissolved
oxygen and be submitted for analysis of the parameters
given in Table 1 attached.
Alluvial well MF72 will be monitored monthly during the
active mining phase for water level, pH, conductivity,
and temperature. Again, if weather or field conditions
prohibit access to the sites, they will not be monitored.
Water samples from well t4W2 will be collected semi-annually
and analyzed for the parameters given on Table 1. The
semi-annual samples will be collected from the alluvial
wells in response to spring snowmelt and to a storm event.
Stip 4: Ground water monitoring wells have been placed to bedrock
in reclaimed pits 2 and 5. A similar ground water monitor-
ing well will be placed in pit 4 after reclamation. The
pit 4 monitoring well will be installed within the first
construction season following final regrading. Well
completion diagrams are enclosed as Figure 1. These
three ground water wells will be tested quarterly (pend-
ing weather and site access) for field parameters and
chemical parameters listed above. Results will be sub-
mitted to the Division on an annual basis.
tip 5: Enclosed is a copy of the applicant's air pollution
permit. Also enclosed is a letter requesting final
permit approval for the air pollution plan.
:ip 6: The applicant has established a fertilization plan
and will continue to follow this plan for the remainder
of the mine life. The applicant will fertilize all
