It is certainly appropriate to use this station. <br />However, the applicant should commit to establishing its own <br />upstream monitoring should the U.S.G.S. discontinue this <br />station. <br />t' <br />'~: F,xhi6lt 10 refers to Fieh Creek monitoring stations 1001 <br />land 1002, while Map No. 9, the Baseline Hydrology Map, shows <br />one station, CYCC Station 26. Either the map or the text <br />should be revised to be consistent. Also, the map should show <br />both the upstream and downstream stations of Fiah Creek. <br />3 The applicant's proposed effluent water quality monitoring <br />~ould be expanded to include those water quality conatitutente <br />S for which the Colorado Department of Health has established <br />numerical stream standards (Attachment B). These constituents <br />should also be added to the stream monitoring stations on <br />Foidel Creek, and monitored on a quarterly basis. <br />4. Table 8 should be modified to include the appropriate <br />~q well data for the Fish Creek alluvial aquifer wells. <br />I. 5. The applicant should submit a proposal to monitor water <br />UI~ inflow into the proposed mine workings. The proposal should <br />include a plan to locate and to measure the flow rates of the <br />various inflows, source of inflow (i.e. faults, fractures, <br />weeping roof, floor or coal face, etc.), inflow rate <br />fluctuations with time (i.e. inflow is perennial, seasonally <br />varies, dried up, etc.), and field measurements of pH, <br />electro-conductivity and temperature. <br />6. The applicant should revise the proposed ground water <br />monitoring plan to include quarterly submittal of collected <br />aata. <br />The Division may have additional adequacy concerns with respect <br />to surface and ground water monitoring of Cer reviewing the <br />applicant's revised discussion of probable hydrologic <br />consequences. <br />Subsidence-Related Aspects <br />On pages 2.05-50 and 2.05-51 of the application, the applicant <br />presents a discussion of the subsidence-related aspects of <br />protection of the hydrologic balance. This presentation is <br />inadequate as it exists, requiring more detail and <br />Sustification for some of the conclusions presented.
