regrading, the topsoil (and subsoil) will be removed from stockpile
and redistributed on the graded surface. Prior to seeding and
planting, the seed bed will be prepared by chisel plowing or discing
to alleviate any compaction resulting from redistribution activities.
The soil conditions following redistribution will be similar to
pre-disturbance conditions. Similar depths of topsoil will be
replaced. Water holding capacity and porosity of the reclaimed area
should be essentially the same as found in pre-disturbance conditions.
Preparation of the seed bed and soil material will decrease the bulk
density of the material. Topsoil nutrient levels will be determined
after the topsoil has been replaced by sampling for nitrogen,
phosphorus, potassium, organic matter, and texture. The appropriate
soil amendments will be added to the soil as necessary in consultation
with the Division.
The planned post-disturbance land use of irrigated agriculture will be
established. Measures for determining success of reclamation will
consist of comparison of the production of the reclaimed site with the
production of the adjacent irrigated agricultural land as shown on the
Pre-Disturbance and Post-Disturbance Land Use Map (Map 4) found in the
earlier Terror Creek Company submittal. During the 1983 growing
season, production information for this reference area will be
gathered far comparison. Production information will consist of
calculation of the tons per acre of hay produced. Terror Creek
Company has made arrangements with the current owner of this area to
collect this production information.
The material used as a base for stockpiling and handling of coal on
the active pad site will not be hauled from the pad area. During
backfilling and grading this pad material will be pushed to the north
adjacent to the existing cut slope. The material will then be covered
by a minimum of four feet of colluvium.
Terror Creek Company has prepared this reclamation plan to ensure
reclamation success of the area. The techniques described above and
