The proposed waste
pile's total volume will amount to approximately 500,000 cubic yards. The
amended application contains geotechnical investigation and stability analysis
results which demonstrate that the proposed underground development waste pile
will achieve the required static slope safety factors of 1.5. During the
construction of the waste pi 1e, a temporary overburden stockpile of approximately
72,000 cubic yards maximum volume will be constructed within the disturbed
underground development waste pile area. With the imposition of the above-noted
stipulation, the Division finds that the backfilling and grading aspects of the
Red Canyon No. 1 and No. 2 mine permit are in compliance with the regulatory
requirements.
XX. Roads (2.05.3(3), 4.03)
The majority of the roads proposed at the Red Canyon No. 1 and No. 2 mines, with
the exception of the access roads to the proposed No. 2 portal, are now existing.
The design of the roadways conform with the requirements of Rule 9.03, with
the exception of the road from the service area to the office, which exceeds
the maximum overall grade permitted by 1~. Because this road is existing and
only experiences infrequent use, this minor variance is acceptable to the Division.
- (ADD COMMENTS REGARDING DRAINAGE OF ROADS AT THIS IACATZON) -
