<br />Page I <br />Preliminary Adequacy - Snowmass Coal <br />April 24, 1981 <br />Section 4.03.1 - Haul Roads <br />I. Under Section 4.03.1(I)(d) the applicant must commit to certifying <br />the design and construction or reconstruction of haul roads. The <br />certification must be done by a qualified registered professional <br />engineer. AZ1 drawings, maps, plans and cross-sections pertaining <br />to roads must bear the stamp of the registered engineer. <br />2. The applicant has not provided sufficient information to verify <br />compliance with the performance standards of 4.03.1. The applicant <br />must submit a profile of existing and new or proposed haul roads and <br />access roads to be used in conjunction with mining operations. The <br />profile should be at the same scale as the topographic maps used to <br />identify the roads. Elevations should be shown on the Y-axis of the <br />profile. The profile should include slopes, grades, distances, culvert <br />locations and switchbacks. <br />3. The applicant must provide typical existing cvt and fill cross- <br />sections showing pitch, road base and surfacing design and road ditch <br />sizing. <br />4. Road maps must show drainage direction, location of culverts <br />(with corresponding designs) ditches, and ditch relief culverts. <br />5. The applicant must demonstrate that culverts were designed, <br />constructed, and maintained to sustain vertical soil pressure, the <br />passive resistance of the foundation, and the weight of vehicles to be <br />used as required under Section 4.03.1(4)(e)(ii). <br />
