f ~' j •

J.E. Stover & Associates -4- May 31, 1996
Bowie No. 2 Mine
areas the map submitted is a good start. In addition the
following information should be added to the permit.
8. Please add a table to this section (4) that incorporates the
actual permitted acres, the actual acres disturbed by previous
operations, and the amount of overlap or redisturbance that is
expected to occur. This figure will probably need to be re-
adjusted once the facilities are actually installed.
2.04.5 Cultural and Historic Resource Information
The results in the report conducted by Grand River Institute
follows closely with information received from the State Historic
Preservation Officer. This report also seems to meet the
requirements of their recommendations for conducting a field
survey. The actual report will be forwarded to the Colorado
Historical Society for further evaluation and compliance with their
recommendations. At this time there are no questions under this
section.
2.04.5 General Description of Hydrolooy and Geology
9. A summarized general description should be included in this
section. Please provide this information.
2.04.6 Geology Description
The general geology and structural geology discussions presented
in this section are faithful renditions of previously published
descriptions of the regional geology. Further the geological
hazards mapping presented was performed by Raye Junge of the
Colorado Geological Survey. A geological map, a geological
hazards map, and geological cross sections of the permit area are
provided.
10. On page 2-04-14, under the "Structural Geology" heading,
Bowie Resources Limited (BRL) states; "There is one
indicated fault that crosses the southwest corner of the
permit area." The Division's examination of Maps O5, 06 and
07, and the geologic cross section included on Map 08, could
not discern the location of the fault in question. BRL
should clarify the fault's location on the geologic maps
and cross sections. As BRL is aware, the Bowie No. 1
(previously the Orchard Valley mine) encountered a number of
faults with 5 to 25 foot throws within the upper D-seam
which necessitated ramping, particularly within the east
