Use of drill mud is not anticipated,
however, if used, mud pits will be fenced. :o
blasting will be conducted, nor is any gas or
water pressure expected to be encountered in the
drilling program. ::o blow-ouc control devices
will be necessary because there are no know;z valuable
or`even potentially valuable oil, gas or geothermal
resources in the planned drilling area. Dri11 sites
will be conditioned at all ti=,es to pre~:ent in}ury to
persons, livestock and wildlife. A11 drilling and
exploration personnel will adhere to all applicable
Federal, State and Energy Fuels Safety and~ilealth
Regulations.
Unless the area is to be mined ius!ediately, or i`
the exploration site is outside of the proposed pit
areas, the drilling sites will be cleaned of trash
and debris, leveled, retopsoiled, scarified and
reseeded to prevent soil erosion at the conclusion
of exploration acCivity. Upon cor..pletion of the
necessary surface preparation, the affected areas
will be seeded according to the reclamation plan
described in Section 780.11 ar.d 816.111-.117. T. he
seeding of rehabilitated drill sites and access-road
locations will be accomplished in the _`irst favorable
seeding season upon cosapletion--during the fall or
early spring. Reestablishr..ent of vegetation on drill
hole sites and abandoned roads is the planned method
to prevent possible soil erosion. Dri11 holes will
be filled except where piezometers are installed for
ground water monitoring.
C. Evaluation of Compliance
Unique habitats will be protected by not drilling
during critical periods (e.g., ellc calving season).
?4ovement of equipment and construction of temporary
roads will be limited to time periods when the
ground is sufficiently dry to minimize excessive surface
damage.
AL1 vehicular traffic will be limited to existing
roads and trails co the maximu.~ extent possible unless
overland travel would be less damagins. Class III
roads will be constructed (in compliance with Section
F316.170-.176) for periods of Less than six months,
if existing roads are inadequate.
