D. A. Berry - 6 - August 29, 1996
monitored to provide baseline data which is undisturbed
by mine-related activities?
Enclosed is revised Map 09 which shows the proposed
location of the six alluvial wells for the loadout and
refuse pile area. Also enclosed is a drawing titled
Alluvial Wells - Typical Completion Diagram. The
completion diagram is to be inserted into Volume III,
Exhibit 3. BRL should be able to have the six alluvial
wells installed by the 4th quarter of 1996.
Realistically, no coal or refuse will be handled until
the second quarter of 1997. Therefore, BRL will at a
minimum, develop three quarters of baseline monitoring
data.
vi. ) DMG - The Rol.l.ins sandstone well DH-34b i.s not ideal. ].y
situated to detect mine-related impact; however,
monitoring of this single Rollins wel.L wi].i. be
sufficient until such time as BItL intends to permit
m.irri.ng i.n the B-2 coal seam, or if other mining
proposals are made.
Based upon infol-mation provided by BRL, it appears that.
typical Ro1li.ns water p].ezorru=_tr.ie surface projections
are several hundred feet below the D-2 seam currently
proposed for. mi.niny. Moni.tor.i.ng as proposed faith this
application is acceptable. However, the B-2 seam may
be wi.thi.n the artesion •rone emanating from the Rollins
sandstone, and communication with future B-2 seam
+forkings through faults could be possi.bl.e. Additional
consideration will be given to further Rollins
sandstone monii.ori.ng, both baseline and operational, i.f
and when B-2 seam mining is proposed.
BRL agrees that impacts to water in the Rollins
Sandstone due to mining in the D-2 seam will be
nonexistent. There are no formal plans to mine the B-2
seam at this time.
vii) The complet.i.on drawings for wells DH-54 and DH-55 state
that a portion of the casing is slotted while the
reroair~ing portion i.s solid. However, the stippling in
the drawings show that the entire casing is slatted.
Please x~econc.ile the d.iff.erence, and revise the
submittals as need.
Completion diagrams for wells DH-54 and DH-55 where
revised to show the "stippling" correctly. Enclosed
are revised completion drawings DH-54 and DH-55. The
completion diagrams are to be inserted into Volume III,
Exhibit 3.
