~i
Evidence of an active beaver population can be seen
throughout C-26644 but nesting densities are believed
to be light.
Cottontails, jackrabbits, coyotes, badgers, raccoon and
deer mice are some of the small mammal species expected
to be found on application C-22676. No populations
parameters or habitat use values are currently available.
A species list for those small mammals expected on the
area can be found in Appendix D (NWCCRES).
Waterfowl
Several species of waterfowl are resident and/or migrate
through the area and some stop off at the ponds and creeks
in the tract. Fish Creek, which runs adjacent to the
east side of the tract, C-22676, is a highly productive
waterfowl area. 14allards (Anas ~latyrhynchos), great
blue herons (Ardea herodias), and green-winged teal (Anas
crecca), are among the species known to nest in the area.
No population estimates are available. Nesting densities
are low in applications C-26644 and C-26913, but the
reservoirs and ponds provide valuable waterfowl habitat.
Upland Game Birds
Sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus), sharp-tailed
grouse, (Pedioecetes phasianellus), and blue grouse
(Dendragapus obscurus) are all found on the lease ap-
plications C-26644 and C-26913 in different areas cor-
98
