Northfield Partners, LLC
Northfield Exploration Project
BASELINE HYDROLOGY MONITORING PLAN -SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
water at the Chandler air shaft. Further monitoring of the spring/seeps in Spring Creek
will continue as described above.
2. The proposed laboratory testing parameters for both groundwater and surface water
should include hardness.
Response:
Northfield has instructed its water analysis laboratory to report hardness on al] future
groundwater and surface water samples.
Completion diagrams for the three monitoring wells may be included with the baseline
hydrology monitoring information. If not submitted with the baseline information, said
diagrams will be required in the hydrologic monitoring section of the forthcoming permit
application package.
Response:
Northfield compiled preliminary monitoring well completion diagrams for the three referenced
monitoring wells; NF-Ol, NF-02, and NF-03. The well completion data is summarized in
Appendix A of this report.
4. Streamflow monitoring should be done during a peak flow event, rather than on a
specific day of a month. Flumes and/or staff gauges are not required for the baseline
monitoring due to the potential disturbance during installation. Documented streamflow
quantity may be estimated or measured by reasonable means. Pictures during monitoring
are beneficial.
Response:
Northfield agrees with the DMG comment to monitor stream flows during peak runoff events
rather than on an arbitrary monthly schedule. The monitoring is feasible since there aze personnel
prepazed to perform stream monitoring who live close to the monitoring points. No flumes or
staff gauges will be installed at this time. If flows occur, engineering estimates of the quantity
will be made in the field.
5. Describe the nature and water source far the two small ponds adjacent to Fawn Hollow
on the south edge of Highway 115. Does the natural drainage channel adjacent and
southwest of the ponds (running south to north) enter the ponds?
- 3 - 06/30/05
