- ,ARCO Coal Company July 7, 1981 Page 2
Ute Engineering, is at this time, requesting permission from
ARCO to use the ARCO Permit Application as a reference source
of information for Che Sear Mine Permit Application.
All information referenced in the Bear Mine Permit Application
will be identified by the page, table number, map number, etc.,
on which this information appears in the ARCO Permit Application.
ARCO will be stated as the source of information.
We would appreciate that you respond, affirmatively, to this
request in the form of a letter as soon as possible.
In reference to the location of ARCO's surface facilities, it was
noted that ARCO plans to install a freshwater pond at some future
date within the area presently occupied by the Bear Mine surface
facilities. The Division has requested that Bear provide details
regarding the exact location and size of the pond, and the proposed
construction date. Could ARCO furnish UTE with this information?
Since the freshwater pond will be located on land to be reclaimed
by Bear, we are requesting that ARCO also provide us with information
as to the type of reclamation that Bear must provide at this site.
That is, must the area of the freshwater pond be reclaimed to
original contours and revegetated with a permanent seedmix or will
removal of the structures and preliminary grading be sufficient?
The subsidence monitoring program for the Beat Mine was discussed
with Jim Pendleton of the MLR Board. Details of the conversation
are in the enclosed letter to Pendleton dated June 12, 1981. We
are also enclosing a map shocaing the location of Bear's subsidence
monitoring monuments.
Ute Engineering is requesting that ARCO compare the location of the
subsidence monitoring monuments with the proposed locations of
ARCO's surface facilities.
We also need to know the completion date and filing information, depth
of well and water level in the new well drilled by ARCO on the Bear
surface.
The final request we have £or ARCO, at this time, is a copy of
ARCO's comments concerning the post-mining land use. Hear is
planning on reclaiming the land to a wildlife and rangeland habitat.
If this post-mining land use is agreeable to ARCO, we are requesting
that ARCO respond, in the form of a letter. If the post-mining land
use is not agreeable, we are requesting your comments.
We realize that we are requesting quite a bit of information from
ARCO. ARCO's assistance in this matter will facilitate the approval
of Bear's Permit Application.
