Enclosed is a revised
Exhibit 7 of the Coal Gulch Mine Permit Application. Pennsylvania
west Coal Corporation commits to two new drill holes as shown on
the Exhibit. The hole within the permit area (Hole 92-1) will be
first cored for roof, floor and coal material, then geophysically
logged for gamma, resistivity and density. A double completion
well will then be installed which will allow pump tests and
ongoing water quality analysis to be conducted on the Cliff House
Sandstone and the Menefee Formation. Its location near the permit
boundary should prevent interruption at a later date.
The second hole (Hole 92-2) will be placed near Highway 160 and
in the direction of future mining. This hole will also gather
roof, floor and coal material for geochemical analysis and will
be completed in the Point Lookout Sandstone for pump tests and
ongoing testing of the water in the Formation.
The hole locations have been selected to provide the best
compromise for gathering needed data on the geochemistry and
hydrology, allowing good access on existing roads and permitting
data collection in the long term since the locations will not be
disrupted by retreat mining.
All geochemistry analysis of the roof and floor materials will be
according to those parameters listed in the November 18 letter
plus neutralization capacity and ~ acidity. The coal analysis
will include the analysis of pyrite, marcasite and sulphur
content, in addition to the following elements:
arsenic manganese
boron mercury
cadmium molybdenum
