Memo to Dave Berry
Bowie No. 2 Geotechnical Adequacy Responses
page 9
near subcrop areas of the mine, should verify the propriety of this
assumption in the shallow overburden portions of the mine plan.
1.5 BREAK ANGLES
Page 12 of Exhibit 15, as amended, now corresponds with my
understanding of the implications of the term "Break Angle". The
proposed monitoring scheme should determine the actual distribution of
surface cracking.
1.6 ZONES OF POTENTIAL FRACTURING
Paragraph 1
The new Section 1.8, added by BRL to Exhibit 15 addresses the Division's
general concern regarding the possible subsidence implications of mining
encountering a significant discontinuity, such as a fault. The proposed
rock mechanics investigations and enhanced visual monitoring in the near
surface faulted portions of the Mine should detect any undesirable
phenomena, allowing remedial techniques to be applied in a timely fashion.
Paragraph 2
This concern has been previously addressed and resolved.
1.7 ZONES ALONG OUTCROP BARRIER PILLAR
Paragraph 1
No comment was required by BRL -none was tendered.
Paragraph 2
The amendments proposed by BRL to pages 14 and 15 of Exhibit 15 clarify
the design intent of the outcrop barrier pillar and resolve my earlier
adequacy concerns.
