Mike Long
Page 10
Section 2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
1. We discussed the manner in which the Reclamation
Timetable, Table 1, should be interpeted. After
some explanation on my part, we agreed no further
information need be provided.
We will add some statement to the effect that
surface mining advances at the rate of approximately
2 cuts per year. While rough backfilling of each
cut occurs within 180 days followed by compaction
and grading.
Information relative to backfilling, compaction
and grading is presented in 2.05.3 under Overburden
Removal (A Seam) commencing on page 2.05-7.
Information which discusses soil stabilization is
under Topsoil Replacement commencing on page 2.05-
53.
3. Time increments will be utilized to portray the
sequence of events by which graded and topsoiled
areas are revegetated. A proposed table of these
events is presented below:
Coal Removal 2 cuts per year
Backfilling fi
Grading 180 days per cut
Topsoil fi Subsoil
Replacement within 90 days following
completion of backfilling
and grading
Revegetation within 30 days following
completion of topsoil and
subsoil replacement. (Except
that revegetation efforts
should be timed in such a
manner that seeding occurs
during the first available
Fall following topsoil
and subsoil replacement).
