Mr. Gregg Squire
February 13, 1986
Page Two
All MLRD numbers are accepted except the demolition of facilities figure, ripping
facilities area figure, and the backfilling and grading figures.
The backfilling figures are explained in Addendum to Section 2.05.3(5) and the
Backfilling and Grading Addendum 2.05.4(2)(c). These addendums show that 30,000
cubic yards of material were needed to fill in the low areas in the vicinity of
the Helen portals, and it will be obtained from the refuse pile. Following that,
44,567 cubic yards will be needed to cover the spoil pile and the Helen area now
covered with refuse to a depth of 3-1/2 feet. This will come from the disturbed
area as per cross-sections. The additional 6 inches of topsoil will come from the
topsoil storage piles. Consequently, no separate cost for non-toxic cover soil
is shown above. Volumes are shown in the cross-sections submitted; the final
contours are on the map accompanying the cross-sections. Costs per yard are
in accordance with the bids, copies attached.
The demolitions figures are from the bid attached. The ripping facilities area
figure is the MLRD figure adjusted to reflect bulldozer time as per attached bid.
On the basis of the figures shown, Sundance Coal feels that the reclamation bond
is more than adequate to cover worst case reclamation costs.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 724 South Lee Court, Lakewood,
Colorado 80226, or call 980-8167.
Sincerely,
d..~--
Howard T. Urband
HTU:ah
Enclosures
