Also, a
discussion of the suitability of the material from each topsoil stockpile
as a plant growth medium based on the physical and chemical characteristics
must be included.
2. Additional analyses are required on the soil samples taken by the applicant.
Saturation percentage must be run on alI the samples, boron and selenium
must be run on those samples with a pH greater than 8. 5, and Sodium Calcium,
Magnesium, Sodium absorption ratio and percent organic matter must be run
on sample numbers SS-13 and SS-I4.
3. The applicant must give the sampling depth for each of the soils shown
to be analyzed in Appendix B.
9. The applicant must clarify whether topsoil stockpiles No. 1 and 2 are
subsoil stockpiles (B&C horizons) and will be replaced as subsoil or if they
are planned to be used as topsoil.
5. The applicant should provide typical profile descriptions of each soil
type within the area disturbed by surface operations.
2.04.10 Vegetation Information
1. The applicant must submit a plan for collection of baseline vegatation
information. This plan must include:
a. methods for collection of herbaceous cover and production and
woody plant density;
b. method to determine sampling adequacy;
c. reference area sizing and approximate locations;
d. methods to compare reference areas to adjacent undistrubed vegetation;
e. methods to determine species diversity;
f. a description of the measures proposed to determine revegetation
success.
The applicant is urged to contact the Division for further information on the
requirements for collection of baseline vegetation information.
2. The vegetation inventory must include a survey for threatened or endan-
gered species, and include a more specific description of each vegetation
type along with a map delineating the vegetation types by dominant species
rather than soil types.
