CO-0039616
PRYOR MINE.
Dear Mr. Shukle,
Pryor Mine, located in Huerfano County. was issued NPDES
permit no, CO-0039616 for their surface coal mine operation in
August 6, 1983. Since that date a further discharge point has
needed to be added to the permit. The point is from an existing
pond, pond "Z", that had not been identified on the original
submittal.
The location of the pond with respect to the other points
indicated in the permit is shown on the attached drawing.
The pond has a volume of 0.30 acre feet and will collect
runoff from a previously disturbed area of about 2.1 acres.
Runoff will be detained for 24 - 36 hours for storms up to the
10-year 24-hr. event. The discharge, less than 0.1 cfs, will be
through a 12-inch diameter CMP which will enter the Pryor Canyon
Creek.
A modification to the original permit is requested. Should
you need any further information please contact either myself,
~ Steve Lowry at (303) 797-1200 or the Mine Manager, Bill Wilson at
(303) 941-4152.
I understand that your review will be completed within 180
days, As mining is expected to begin as soon as an exploratory
program is completed, your assistance in approving the requested
modification is appreciated.
Sincerely.
Steve Lowry ..
cc: Bill Wilson
American Fuels
