-2-
1) Discharge of mine water on receiving stream (Oak Creek) -the
applicant should either show using ground water baseline that no
discharge is anticipated, or estimate the quantity and quality of the
discharge and its effect upon water quality in Oak Creek.
2) Depletion of spring flow - the applicant should either show through
their spring and seep survey that no significant springs or seeps exist
in the permit and adjacent area or provide an assessment of mining
effects on the springs.
3) The proposed mining operation would undermine South Oak Creek and
an unnamed tributary to South Oak Creek. The applicant should either
submit sufficient baseline to show that no surface or alluvial ground
water resources exist along these drainages or provide an assessment of
mining effects on surface flow and alluvial ground water flow.
4) The applicant should assess the effects of the culvert and fill
upon surface water hydrology. Particularly if the applicant wishes to
leave these permanently. (During adequacy we can discuss whether or not
the fill can be left during permanent reclamation. I do not believe that
the culvert is an acceptable permanent stream diversion.)
ROY MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL GW CONCERNS -
SURFACE WATER BASELINE -
Lewis Gulch - No qual or quan
Oak Creek -perennial - No flow data
some quality data (March) -minimal
quality data insufficient to show
seasonal variations. No TDS
South Oak Creek -ephemeral - no qual or quantity
Spring Survey - None
Qual or Quan - None
Surface Water Use - City of Rock vale -obtains water from Oak
Creek.
Uthers?
Stream Channel Diversion - Stream Channel Reconstruction
What will be required depends upon final disposition of bench and culvert
handle during review process.
/ys
Doc.
