816.162 Roads: C1~ II: Design and Constru~.on <br />a) Vertical alignment. There are no excessive cuts <br />or fills. (v3, p. 816-207, Map 38) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />b) Horizontal alignment. The horizontal alignment is <br />consistent with the topography and traffic voluxie. <br />(v3, p. 816-207, Map 38) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />c) ~ Road cuts. There are only about 200 feet of cut <br />slope on the existing Class II Road system. It <br />has a cut slope of approximately lv:lh. Stability <br />has been demonstrated over the years and is expected <br />to continue since the depth of the cut is only about <br />6 feet from ditch to the top of the cut. (v3, p. 816- <br />208) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />d) Road embankments. The existing Class II Roads <br />embankments were constructed using mine spoil and <br />existing road cut material. All the embanlonent <br />slopes have demonstrated stability at slopes varying <br />from 1v:1.5h to 1v:2.5h. (v3, p. 816-211) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />e) Topsoil removal. This section is not applicable <br />because no new roads will be constructed. (v3, p. 816- <br />211) <br />816.163 Roads: Class II: Drainage <br />a) General. The existing culverts and ditches are <br />adequate for the required flows, based on calculations <br />performed to comply with 30 CFR 816.153. (v3, pp. 816- <br />211-212(a)) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />b) Ditches or alternatives. Class II Roads have drainage <br />crowns and have no safety berms, therefore the surface <br />drains freely to the borrow ditches which also collect <br />the runoff from above the roadbeds. The only surface <br />dip exists on Road F and will be eliminated by adequate <br />road crown drainage. (v3, pp. 816-212 (a)-212(b)) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />
