The importance of the area to wildlife in the
region cannot be understated. Likewise, fire Division believes that the DOW input to the project,
as a cooperating agency, is equally important.
The Division has organized comments by the general issue or concern as originally identified.
Breedi g bird survevs
Based on the field inspection of the riparian area and the applicant's response, this issue has been
adequately addressed.
e e
No response is necessary for this comment.
Woodhouse Toad Survey
• Woodhouse toad surveys were not conducted, as correctly pointed out by the DOW and as noted
by the applicant. However, this reptile was not included in the original species list for the area
as defined by the DOW Colorado Wildlife Species Database list provided to the applicant. Based
on the applicant's response, this issue has been adequately addressed.
Response
No response is necessary for this cotnment.
Postine siens
The DOW would like some signage to indicate mining areas as related to hunting on the ranch as
pan of the Ranching for Wildlife Program. Some indication as to active mining azeas, haul roads,
and blasting would be appropriate. Possibly this issue can also be addressed through
communication between the ranch and the mine during those times of year when hunters will be
on the property. Does the landowner have plans to limit access to hunters in proposed mining
areas?
Response
LCC will coordinate with the landowner to limit access of hunters in areas of active mining azeas.
Signs will also be posted on roads that will advise hunters of closed areas. This commitment has
• been included on revised page Z.OS-83.
