The applicant references a map of locations of core samples and grab
samples that was submitted in a previous application. The specific
information required under 2.04.6 must be included in the application,
not referenced. TBM must supply, as part of the application, a map which
clearly identifies the location of all drill holes used to construct
cross-sections, to supply samples of overburden, and holes which correspond
to lighologic logs presented in the application. The elevations of all
drill holes should also be indicated on a map.
Z. Geologic cross-sections presented in drawing IV-1, 2, 3 are insuf-
ficient to satisfy the requirements of 2.04,6(1)(a). The cross-sections
must identify the depth and thickness of all coal seams including the
thickness and location of any coal or rider seams above the seam to be
mined. The cross-section must also identify each stratum in the over-
burden down to the stratum immediately below the lowest coal seam to be
mined. The drawing must also locate all aquifers in the overburden.
The drawing should be at a sufficient scale to allow the Division to
make accurate measurements of the stratum, The drawing should also
identify which drill holes were used to construct the cross-sections
and the accompanying Zithologic logs should be provided,
3. The applicant must provide a discussion of the physical properties
of each stratum within the overburden. The discussion should include
information on swell and texture. This information is needed to assess
compactibility, erodibility, and overall swell.
4. The chemical analysis of the overburden does not clearly correspond
to locations on the geologic map and lithologic logs. This information
should be organized so that it is clear where the analysis came from
(location on a map) and clear as to which strata was sampled (corres-
ponding lithologic log).
5. The overburden parameters analyzed are incomplete. The applicant
must analyze for the complete list of parameters. A copy of the required
