iii iiiiiiiiniii iii
999
The acceptable responses required for the items of comment addressed below
were altered, by mutual agreement, to differ to some extent from those originally
indicated in the comment letter dated January 6, 1982. These changes were the
result of discussions which took place at the meeting held on February 17, 1982
between Mined Land Reclamation Division staff members and Snowmass Coal Company
representatives. Snowmass Coal Company will respond to all remaining items of
concern as they were originally expressed.
Please refer to "Snowmass Coal Company Permit Application Review Comments"
dated January 6, 1982:
Page 1, Item II. C.:
A "Life of Mine" boundary map at a scale of 1:12,000 will be provided which
identifies the boundaries of all surface and mineral lease holdings of Snowmass
Coal Company. A description of the size, sequence, and timing of the mining
and subareas for which it is anticipated additional permits will be sought will
be shown as accurately as is presently possible.
Page 4, Item III.B.l.:
This item should read "Snowmass needs to respond again to question 23 D
on page 16 of the Preliminary Adequacy Review letter".
Page 4, Item III.B.2.:
Culvert designs for the haul road to the truck dump were submitted on Dec-
ember 4, 1981 as acknowledged by Bob Liddle at the February 17, 1982 meeting.
Page 4, Item III. B. 3.:
Apparently as an oversight, the pages which contained the responses to
questions 4, 5, and 6 on Page 18 of the Preliminary Adequacy letter were not
included in the copy of Volume I, Section 4 of the Adequacy Response dated Aug-
ust 17, 1981 submitted to the Mined Land Reclamation Division.
We apologize for this error and will provide copies of the missing pages.
Page 4, Item III.C.3.:
Snowmass will resubmit all surface and groundwater data collected to date
in a form which will indicate average, maximum, and minimum concentrations of all
measured parameters.
As no sedimentation pond discharge base data is presently available, Snowmass
will develop a pond discharge monitoring plan. A report which evaluates the im-
pacts of dissolved solids discharged from sedimentation ponds to the receiving
stream will be prepared and submitted to the Division when sufficient data has
been collected.
NOTE: To aid in the preparation of the monitoring plan, I need to know the sampl-
ing period and frequency that would be acceptable to the Division. Please
provide this information.
