Dept. of Rstu~al Re~o~rces <br />Re: Joint t4eeting Between the Office of Surface Mining ("OSP1") and <br />Colorado t•1ined Land Reclamation Division ("Division") to Discuss <br />Revision of Bear Coal Company Permit. <br />Gentlemen: <br />We appreciated the opportunity to meet with you on Wednesday, October 14, <br />1981. This letter will confirm the discussion at our meeting regarding our <br />concerns for initiating, as soon as possible, facility relocation and <br />actual mining in an area directly adjacent to our present underground <br />operations. <br />Participating in the meeting on October 14 were the following individuals: <br />Fred Banta, Division; <br />Floyd Johnson, OSM; <br />Richard Daws, OSM; <br />William Bear, Bear Coal Company; <br />J. Paul Storrs, mining consultant; and, <br />Alan Czarnowsky, ACZ Inc. <br />The basic purpose of tire meeting was to discuss our immediate need to <br />continue mining in an area adjacent to the existing underground operations <br />with no or minimal interruption. The basic issues regarding this urgency <br />and the planned method of receiving prompt approval from both the Office of <br />Surface hlining and the Mine Land Reclamation Division were also discussed. <br />T'De following are the general items discussed during the meeting: <br />• Background information concerning the present necessity for <br />mining in adjacent reserves <br />rr Plans for continuation of the operation <br />• Partial approval <br />
