The marked elk should be monitored from <br />aircr~=t, preferably a helicopter. Flights should be as follotas: <br />P,•cember, Januar}•, February - one flight each month <br />1. An ell: togging program should be done for three years, with =oni- <br />toring to continue for two additional years, when mining of the <br />caildlife buffer zone is corW~nenced. This program should be designed <br />to monitor elk calving behavior in the subject area.
