~ V
NOV 0 2 2006
Division of Rzclamation,
Mirring and Safety ~
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
Depardrttent of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Sir or Madam:
P O Box 414
12000 Auckland Ave.
Florence, CO 81226
Pursuant to your Public Notice of the permit application for the Northfield Mine Project
Northfield Partners, LLC of proposed surfice and underground operations located in
soudt cenOtai Colorado in Fremont County, I and my wife, Karen, request a public
hearing for the purpose of determining whether the interests of the public and affected
landowners will be protected.
After reviewing the subject permit application at the Clerk and Recorders Office in the
Fremont County Courthouse, we became aware that a large portion of our 35-acre lot
located im the Chandler Heights subdivision in the town of Williamsburg is within the
mime permit's boundaries. Using the 2.04.3 Land Use map in the permit application a
measurement revealed that our new home is only about 3,7001inear feet from the
proposed mine access and haul road leading to County Road 79. Therefore, we have
major corx:ems about traffic congestion and safety, noise, property values and water
rights.
Additionally, there appears to be an error in the public notice. The notice states that the
"mine access and haul mad leading to the facilities area will intersect theright-of-way of
County Road 79 a distance of 0.52 miles east of the junction of County Road 79 and
County Road 11A." However, the 2.04.3 Land Use map clearly shows the mine access
and haul road will intersect County Road 79 to the west of the junction of County Road
79 and County Road 11A approximately 0.52 miles. Ifthe Land Use map is cornet, the
error of the public notice would minimize the additional traffic wngestion to the public
understanding.
Sincet+ely yours,
Gary W.
