. ~ ~ III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII <br />999 <br />DEPARTMENT OF 'THE INTERIOR <br />Bureau of Land Management <br />Colorado <br />_ Coal Lease Application C-34886 <br />Notice of Public Hearing, <br />Availability of Environmental Assessment, and Request for <br />Public Comment <br />THE DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR, Bureau of Land Management, Colorado <br />State Office, Denver, Colorado hereby gives notice that a public hearing <br />will be held on January 25, 1983, at 7:00 p.m, in the Archuleta County <br />Extension Building, Red Ryder Grounds, South of Pagosa Springs on High- <br />way 84, Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Application has been made by. Chimney <br />Rock Coal Company to the United States that it offer for lease certain <br />coal resources in the lands hereinafter described. The purpose of the <br />hearing is to obtain public comments on the Environmental Assessment and <br />on the following items: (1) The method of mining to be employed to <br />obtain maximum economic recovery of the coal; (2) the impact that mining <br />the coal in the proposed leasehold may have on the area, including, but <br />not limited to, impacts on the envirortnent; and (3) methods of deter- <br />mining the fair market value of the coal to be offered. Written requests <br />to testify orally at the January 25, 1983, public hearing should be <br />received at the San Juan Resource Area Headquarters, Bureau of Land <br />Ma nag anent, Federal Building, 701 Camino Del Rio, Durango, Colorado <br />81301 ,. prior to the close of business January 24, 1983. People rho <br />indicate they wish to testify when they check in at the hearing may <br />have an opportunity if time is available. <br />Both oral and written comments will be received at the public hear- <br />ing, but speakers will be limited to a maximum of three or five minutes <br />1 <br />
