.
Mr. Dale Larsen - 2 - June 18, 1985
5. The Division may propose that no pillars be extracted in areas with
less then 300 feet of overburden to prevent subsidence in ephemeral
drainages. The applicant may wish to address this relative to mine
inflow and poor quality discharge.
6. The Division requests that Peerless Resources monitor the Victory No. 3
discharge by welding a stand pipe or other mechanism on to existing
pipe in order to assess the quantity and quality of the Victory No. 3
discharge and to isolate this discharge from actual and potential
discharges by the Coal Gulch Mine.
7. The applicant should estimate maximum flows to the sediment pond. The
disturbed area drainage, Arness/McGriffin portal discharge and Coal
Gulch portal discharge (worst case estimate) should all be included.
The sediment pond should be resized to accommodate this inflow.
8. As discussed with Mr. Strid and Mr. Czarnowsky, the existing sediment
pond at the site appears to be conducting water through the bottom or
embankment of the pond as evidenced by a drop in pond water level,
though inflows are greater than discharge. The Division requests a
discussion of where the water is going and how Peerless Resources plans
to contain this water.
9. In the application, it is
use" of Coal Gulch water.
location and projected use
adjudicated or legal well,
application.
>tated that there is some "minor residential
The Division requests information on the
of this water. The application should provide the Division with a subsidence
monitoring plan above all drainages, specifically to the northwest of
the facilities area and in the area to be mined. In the monitoring,
the applicant should address the amount of movement, the location of
movement and the amount of inflow which is then depleted by movement
into the fracturing.
11. The Division requests that Peerless Resources drill a double completion
well in the NWl/4 NWl/4 Section 16, T35N, R10W. The purpose of this
well will be to monitor quantity and quality of water in the Lower
Cliff House Sandstone, and the Upper Menefee Formation. This well
should be completed in such a manner so as to preclude any connection
between formations through the wells. Pump or slug test results, water
quality data', drillers logs, and completion information should be
submitted to the Division
12. The Division would like peerless to submit pertinent information
concerning the proposed water supply well upon completion. This
information shall include state engineer number, depth of hole,
drillers log, completion information, production data, and water
quality analysis.
