The applicant proposes to sell coal fines generated during mining to the local <br />market. At the time of final rec]amation, any coal fines not sold will be <br />backfilled into the mine prior to portal sealing. <br />The applicant proposes to deposit any generated non-coal waste into a trash <br />dumpster. Material in this dumpster will be disposed of at the local landfill. <br />The applicant is in compliance with the requirements of this section. <br />XIX. Mine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, Sup ort Facilities; Roads; <br />and on s, mpoundments, an aversions - u es n. ~. , <br />and <br />A. Mine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, and Supyort Facilities <br />The mine facilities consist of a shaker conveyor with connected <br />hopper and associated bins, storage shed, exhaust fan, portable water <br />tank, and transformer and utility lines. These facilities are <br />discussed in Section 2.05.3 of the permit application and depicted on <br />Map No. 1 - Mine Surface and Hydrology Map. <br />B. Roads <br />There are two combination haul/access roads to be utilized in the <br />proposed permit area. Both of these roads have been in existence for <br />some time as mining first commenced at this site around 1950. For <br />the purpose of consistency, the roads can be designated as the <br />northwest road and the northeast road. The northwest road leads <br />directly from La Plata County Road 120 across Hay Gulch to the mine <br />bench. The northeast road leads from National King Coal, Inc.'s, <br />access/haul road to the mine bench. Information oertainino to these <br />two roads is located in Section 4.03 of the per;nit application and <br />are depicted on Map No. 1 - Mine Surface and Hydrology Map. <br />C. Ponds, Imooundments, and Diversions <br />During the adequacy review process, the Division assisted 81ue Flame <br />in the design of the sediment pond, upland diversion ditches (east <br />and west), and drainage ditches. The pond is designed to handle the <br />10 year - 24 hour storm event. Due to the small dimensions of this <br />pond, there is only an emergency spillway with no principal <br />spillway. The applicant has committed to pumping the pond to <br />maintain the 10 year - 24 hour storm event capacity. 7o determine <br />sediment level, the applicant has committed to installing a staff <br />gauge and cleaning the pond at the 60 percent sediment level. <br />All drainage ditches leading to the sediment pond and the upslope <br />diversion ditches (east and west) have been designed to handle the 10 <br />year - 24 hour storm event. <br />The applicant is in compliance with the requirements of this section. <br />_pp_ <br />
