Grassy Gap Bonding Calculation
1, 2, 6 3. Based upon load count and field measurements, an overburden
volume of 291,000 cubic yards is assumed. Dan Mathews of
CMLRD calculated 300,000 cubic yards. We will agree to the
RECEIVED larger quantity.
The use of rental rates is an unreasonable basis to calculate
7 hh anticipated costs of reclamation, since the work would be put
E~ t U ~~d4 out to contractors to bid. Similar work in the area at Sun
Mine and Braecons Golf Course has been in the $.70 range.
MINED LAND R~~~AMA°ItlM hId1510N Unit costs based upon using the cost estimates determined by
COIO.UBD{.0{N6I~lelRewuicns the Caterpillar Performance Handbook, Edition 14 as shown on
the attached would yield a unit price of $.52.
Unit prices based upon 70% of the 1984 Rental Rate Bluebook
would yield an average unit cost of $.64. A 70% rate is a
commonly employed factor and based upon the recognition that
the published rates are applicable for very short term usage.
Using the higher of the calculated numbers, we have 300,000
C.Y. x $.64 = $192,000.CO.
4. The amount of potential disturbance at Pit 4 equaling 35 acres
and revegetation costs of $618.00 have been agreed to by
Rockcastle and CMLRD, or a total cost of revegetating Pit 4
equal to $21,630.00
5. Pit 6 has been reclaimed so no further cost of reclamation
is required.
- .. - . = =: _b_ , :: ;, - - .- -_ Pits =d ; .2.; .3, -5, . a.nd b-may need _ some= repair 'to ;the v_e_getaEion. ~ _ -- - `-
` ~ - - Assuming an approximate 15Y, repair cost would yield-.~5 x $618/ - -
acre = $92.70. The first 4 pits cover 94.3 acres. Pit 6 adds
6.4 acres or 100.7 acres x $92.70 = $9,334.89.
7. Backfilling the Pit 4 and main haul road based upon the buttress
yardage required = 3782.6 C.Y. ? $2.21 = $8,359.55 (see attached).
Based upon the yardage required to cut the backslopes to con-
form to the regulations = 3384.1 C.Y. @ 2.21 = 7478.86
Using the greater of the two numbers = 8360.00
8. She metal shop building can be removed at no cost as almost
anyone would take it for its reusable salvage value.
9. She cost of reclamation of sediment ponds at Pits 2 and 3 has
been agreed to by Rockcastle and CAILRD at $13,000.00
In summary then,
Pi[ 4 Reclamation $192,000.00
Pit 4 Revegetation 21,630.00
Pit 6 Reclamation -0-
Pit 1, 2, 3, 5, b 6 Revegetation Repair 9,335.00
Backfill Pit 4 haul road and main haul road 8,360.00
Removal of metal shop -0-
Reclamation of ponds in Pits 2 6 3 13,000.00
5244,325.00
