Tom Gillis
Mined Land Reclamation
January 6, 1982
Page 2

Coal north of crosscut 25 (see the attachment) is not considered
abondoned. Blue Ribbon will attempt to reach this area through the above
mentioned 2nd North. Utilizing an approach from shallower cover,
additional mining experience, and an improved mining plan, this coal should
be recoverable.
Note that the projection to mine the "shaded area" is dependent on
roof conditions in the existing lst North panel, especially in the areas
allowing safe access to the rooms and belt entry. If mining conditions
worsened to the point that a projection change was required, the same
general "shaded area" would be mined by driving a three entry development
North from East Mains (east of 1st North) and rooming the area. When
completed 2nd North would be begun as described above.
If you have any questions regarding this request, please give me
or Marvin Adam a call at 825-1966 and 874-7561 respectively.
Sincerely yours,
WST/ct
BLUE RIBBON COAL COMPANY
By: Western Associated Coal Corp.
(A General Partner)
By: U./iJUAG~ ~ l~~
William S.
