We are
therefore requesting an additional supply of coal per a technical
revision that would allow mining to continue beyond the end of January
1982 and through the end of July 1982, which would allow for additional
responses from Blue Ribbon, your final review and issuance of written
findings, and proper notification for the permit application.
An update excerpt from Exhibit C is attached which shows the mine
layout for the Blue Ribbon Mine. I have shaded on this exhibit the
areas which will be mined during February through July 1982. You will
note that pillar extraction will continue as approved by MLRD. The
October 1981 technical revision approval and my letter of October 29,
1981, describe our intent for mining plan for this extended period
except for now outdated projection period.
An accurate six month projection is again difficult because the
mining rate will be dependent on the secondary mining recovery. Blue
Ribbon Coal proposes the following:
1. Complete secondary mining in the area between the 5 East and
4 East Rooms. Much of the secondary mining in this area will
be completed in January 1982. This pillar recovery concept
is discussed briefly in the permit application.
2. Develop 3 East Rooms now projected as 100' x 100' C.L.
3. Recover the coal between 4 East Rooms and 3 East Rooms.
4. Start development of 2 East Rooms. Steps 1 to 4 would
then repeat.
Mining should be completed in 1st Nor[h, the general area between
5 East Rooms and 1 East Rooms and adjacent chain pillars in June 1982.
The remainder of June and July will be spent developing 2nd North. The
projection is now a 3 entry 100 foot centers development.
