~ ~ *ir. Richard Mills
• gust 25, 1980
Page 2
2. Methodology trials with Energy Fuels' coal auger at Mine 3 and Mine 1 '~
have demonstrated that it is neither possible not practicable to
recover coal by the auger method in dipping seams such as at Mine 3.
Consequently, Energy Fuels Corporation will not be augering coal at
Mine 3.
3. Soil material piles are located as shown on Map 1, herein.
4. It is requested that we be allowed to remove from the permitted area ~C
approximately 40 virgin acres in the NE'y of the NW's of Section 24,
T6N, R86W, and that we add to the permit area a portion of the SE's
SW~L, Section 12, TSN, R86W, totaling about 26.5 acres, as noted on
Map 1. The addition of land in Section 12 will provide an area
within which a few number of experimental wells may be drilled to
assess the value of pumping in the Middle Creek Mine dewatering
effort. Soil materials will be salvaged where recoverable, and
benches cut for drill access will be restored to the approximate
original contour. The permit boundary on Map 1 is revised to depict
this change, and the changes in Item 5, following.
5. Additional acreage south of the tipple (1.5 acres) is requested to be `~
included in the permit, to provide an area for a sedimentation pond.
Also, 5.0 acres are requested to be added to the permit to contain
two sedimentation ponds on the northwest side of County Road No. 49
northeast of the Pit 3A area. The trade for this acreage is also
from the 40 acres in Section 24. Energy Fuels Corporation owns all
surface in those areas in this Stem, and in No. 4, as per the pre-
vious permit.
Two additional parcels are requested to be added to the Permit to
accommodate road alignments, which for reasons relating to acces-
sibility, are outside existing boundaries. These parcels are located
in the SE'y of the SW'y of the SE's of Section 13, Township SN, Range
86W, and in the SW~y of the SW's of the SEA of Section 12, Township SN,
Range 86W. The addition of these parcels, plus the other additions,
totals somewhat less than the 40 acres withdrawn from the Permit in
Section 24.
6. The two temporary overburden storage areas in Section 12, TSN, R86W,
will be graded during the summer of 1980, as previously permitted.
7. The shop and parking location for Pit 3, originally proposed to be
located southeast of Tipple 3, is located as shown on Map 1, for
reasons relating to the desire and practicality of being proximate to
the mine activities.
It is proposed that these facilities be left for the use of the
Middle Creek Mine, to be reclaimed at the conclusion of those
activities.
8. The permanent overburden pile in Section 24 previously permitted
contains not three million cubic yards as permitted, but only
1,079,730 cubic yards (on 16.5 acres) with an additional 181,000
,, ~ .
u i .~
