Dept. cf Natur2l Hesourc s
1313 Sherman Street
Suite 400
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Technical Revision to Permit 76-16, Pit 3
Dear Rick:
This letter and the enclosed constitutes Energy Fuels Corporation's
request to MLR that a Technical Revision be granted to the Pit 3/Middle
Creek Mine Permit 76-16. This request is submitted in response to commit-
ments made by Energy Fuels Corporation to you on March 14, 1980 and on
August 25, 1980; and in response to Energy Fuels' desire to revise the
mining and reclamation schedule, and to gain approval for certain changes
in facilities, location, and equipment. Reference is made to our letter
dated May 8, 1980, with enclosures applicable to this letter also.
Revisions to the Permi[ are as follows:
1. The revised mine schedule is shown on Map 1, Energy Mine No. 3 Mine '*
Plan, enclosed with our letter dated May 8th. (See for comparison,
previous mine plan maps.)
Mining activities will conclude by October 1, 1980, when coal to the 7+;
65 foot cover line will be mined out. The original plan to take coal
to a highwall depth of 100 to 110 feet proved to be exceedingly
costly, economically unfeasible„ and operationally impracticable.
Regrading is virtually concurrent with mining progress and final pits
will be filled in by April 1, 1981.
Soil replacement on that portion of the Pit 3 mine area mined out,
graded, and not left for the Middle Creek Mine will occur in the fall
of 1980 and the early winter of 1961, with seeding to take place as
soil is prepared and to be completed by October, 1981.
~1(, It should be noted that mining per the mine plan as previously per-
mitted using a 28 cubic yard shovel and 170 ton trucks for overburden
removal was accomplished without the 28 cubic yard shovel or the 170
ton trucks, which are at Energy Fuels Mine No. 1. Mining per the
mine plan has been done using the 191-M 15 cubic yard shovel and 100
ton trucks, dozers, and loaders and 50 ton trucks.
