Mr. Gary Wendt - 2 - July 25, 1985
Tnird, calcium caruonate analysis should be done on ali samples. The presence
or absence of ettervescence of a soil under field conditions is necessarily a
somewnat suojective determination. Tneretore, the laboratory analysis would
provide amore objective determination of calcium caruonate amount.
Finally, the suitability level for EC snould pe set at 12 mmhos/cm. Tnis is
the tnresnold level for the iJucla, iJucla East, and Seneca II (dines. The
tnresnold level for Seneca IIW is unclear (Taple 9-2, page 9-4-14) since there
is no cutotf number under the "unusable" column.
If you have any questions on tnese points, please contact me.
Sincerely,
~~
~~
Carl B. Mount
Reclamation Specialist
C8M/yjp
cc: James Lunan, Peabody Coai Company
8328E
