J ~ <br />• <br />Memo to Mike Savage <br />May 13, 1981 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Pertaining to Hydrology - we have not done anything about the gaited <br />valves on the ponds. These valves are located on the bottom of the <br />sediment storage area. If they open the valves, all the sediment will <br />be washed downstream. In looking at your memo and Rich's, I didn't <br />see any mention of this problem. we should correct this problem. If <br />we don't, there is no sense in even using sediment ponds! <br />Also, one of the ponds is storing over an acre-foot of water. Because <br />of this the pond is considered an impoundment and must comply with Section <br />4.05.9 and U.S. Soil Conservation Service Public Standard 378, 'Ponds', <br />as required in our regs. I don't know if the pond meets these standards, <br />but we certainly don't have the information to make the findings. <br />Since Rich reviewed Hydrology and will write the findings, you should <br />work out these problems with him. <br />
