Peak. Trinidad East map had contours every 20 feet and the
Fisher's Peak had 40 feet contours because the abrupt rise of
the Peak itself would appear as a big °ink smear' with 20
contours. These three maps were part of the SOAP study which
was approved by the Division some time back. For_someons to
accurately draw in the contours the triangulation and aerial
photographs would have to ba obtained from the BLM, for someone
like Intrasearch to plot. This would bs quite costly and time
consuming, and I feel it is the Contractor's problem that did
the SOAP study and not mine.
The Division's request that the bond for the permit be put up
within three days after it is approved is unacceptable. It
mining could commence, on approval, that would be fine, how-
ever a permit must also be obtained through the Las Animas
County Commissioners after Division approval. Before the
Commissioners will consider it I must receive the Planning
Board's approval before they presantit to the Co~issionars.
According to Mr. Ossola, the Planning Board chairman, they meet
once a month, and I would have to fit within one of their
monthly meetings unless a special meeting could be called.
The Commissioner's meet once a week so there is no problem
there. There has been some resistance to the mine plan caused
by one individual who has been distorting the facts. I am
talking to a lawyer to make him start being truthful of face a
lawsuit.
I have a person on call in Trinidad to take monthly surface
water samples in Engleville Gulch when runoff occurs. I need a
letter outlining the analysis procedure from MLRD.
To my knowledge this concludes all answers to questions asked by
MLRD about the permit application. If there are others, please
let me know.
Sinc rely,
C~~L~~~C~•IQ~L~a~i _
W. T. Davis
1390 Ash Street
Denver, Colorado 80220
