The first step of the portal development will <br />be to remove and segregate the topsoil and haul it to a storage <br />pile north of the operation area. Such placement will prevent <br />additional handling or disturbance. The slope of the storage pile <br />shall not exceed a 20% grade. The stockpile will be seeded to <br />prevent erosion from wind and rain. The DCSCO recommends the <br />following mixture and seeding rates: <br />S ecies Variety lbs PLS/AC* <br />Western Wheat Barton 4.0 <br />Crested Wheat Nordan 4.8 <br />Kentucky Bluegrass 0.2 <br />PLS=Pure Live Seed <br />A small diversion dike will be constructed on the low <br />side of the topsoil pile to act as a settling pond for any eroded <br />material. <br />The topsoil pile will also serve as a test plot for <br />suggested vegetative species. A game-proof fence will protect the <br />test plot from use by livestock and/or wildlife. <br />HYDROLOGICAL DISTURBANCE <br />(1-h.) The disturbed area will not affect the prevailing <br />hydrological balance in any way.
