/-
.. ~~~
/ Page 2
~ Jim Berron
July 31, 1980
5) Water infiltrating into the sub-main being advanced should be channeled
in such a way that it can be continuously monitored. Monitoring should
begin as excavation is initiated, and should continue until equilibrium
flow has been achieved.
6) The rock quality parameters (fracturing, faulting, water content of
fractures, etc.) should be continuously monitored and mapped as the
sub-main is advanced.
7) Following the completion of the initial sub-mainand appropriate period
to allow equilibration of surface/groundwater hydrologic relationships,
the additional sub-mains may be advanced upon the receipt of approval
of the Division. (I anticipate a delay of no longer than two to three
weeks for equilibration of these systems.)
'" 8) If a problem were to manifest iEself, Northern Cnal Company would then
be required to develop and implement appropriate remedial programs
before extraction of the additional sub-mains could be approved by
the Division.
JP
/k
CC: F.
