I now agree that tteir hypothesis that "linkage or communication
with adjacent strata such that the potential drainage or depletion. of
Curtis Creek from subsidence or groundwater movement along fractures
and=joints, is unlikely or wou ld be minimal" (ref. pg, 4, letter from t Q~
F
Shaeffer and Curske dated July 25, 1980). ~~~I~;~
'\
~ ~
As I expressed in my memo of July 18, 1980, in approving the advancement tt~~jtt~
of sub-mains beneath Curtis Creek, I recommend that we include the following p~ ti`~~~'
stipulations: nr~ k
1) A detailed plan for the sub-main advancement be prepared and submitted ..1Xw`
by the applicant detailing the location of sub-mains, dimensions and _\\
methods of advance.
2) A single sub-main be advanced and monitored completely.
3) All appropriate adjacent groundwater wells be monitored on at least
a daily basis, preferably continuously recorded. Groundwater wEll
monitoring should cormnence several weeks prior to the advancement
of the initial sub-main and should continue until equilibrium is
achieved, following the advancement.
9) An additional surface flaw gauging station should be installed upstream from
the proposed sub-main location. This station in combination with the
existing station immediately downstream from the Rienau N2 should be
continuously recorded commencing several weeks prior to excavation
and continuing until equilibrium has been achieved. 1~
n ~ ~~~ P,
-~` W ~ P~
