Shetto~
Director
DATE: November 10, 1982
TO: Sandy Emrich n
FROM: David Crad-g d/(yJ11~.1.~
RE: Adequacy Comments - FoideI Creek Mining Application
I have completed my adequacy review of Colorado Yampa's mining application
for the proposed Foidel Creek Mine. Specifically, I reviewed the geology
and ground water portions of the application. The following is a list of
questions and comments I have regarding this review.
Geology
Rule 2.04.6(2) (a) (iv) (B)
The applicant should submit the Iithologic logs for the drill holes from
which the recently submitted roof and floor geochemistry data was taken.
The specific drill holes are as follows: 006-82-072, CH-82-041, CH-82-65,
006-82-046, CH-82-74A, and CB-82-748.
Rule 2.04.6(2) (a) (iv) (D)
The applicant should justify why such small stratigraphic intervals were
sampled when obtaining the recently submitted roof and floor geochemistry
data. Most of the samples were taken from the sequence of strata located
1 foot above and below the Wadge Coal Seam. Is this anuunt of sample
sufficient to adequately characterize the geochemistry of the potential
roof fall material?
Ground Water
Rule 2.04.7(1)(b)
The applicant has listed the value of storage coefficient for the
overburden aquifer to be 1.7 x 10 (p. 2.04-17, Yol. 1). Shouldn't
this value be 1.7 x 10 The applicant should crorrect the typographical
error.
I~
