Alternative 2: Disapproval of the Proposed Mininq Plan
(the "No Action" Alternative)
Under this alternative, the Assistant Secretary would
disapprove the mining plan for Federal lease C-0114093.
If disapproved, about 7.80 million t (8.6 million tons)
of coal would not be mined (including about 6.26 million
t (6.9 million tons) of Federal coal).
B. Other Alternatives Considered But Eliminated From
Detailed Analysis
Approval of the Proposed Mininq Plan with special
Federal Conditions
No special Federal conditions are required to satisfy
the requirements of Federal laws, Executive orders, and
regulations, and the analysis of approval without
special Federal conditions did not result in the
identification of any impacts that could or should be
mitigated beyond that mitigation proposed in the PAP and
by Colorado DMG's conditions of approval.
C. NEPA Section 102(2)(E) Alternatives
This proposed project does not involve any unresolved
conflicts concerning alternative uses of available
resources. Therefore, consideration of alternatives
pursuant to section 102(2)(E) of NEPA, 42 U.S.C. §§
4332(2)(E), is not required.
5
