Primary Alternatives Under Analysis
Alternative 1: Approval of the Proposed Mininq Plan
(the Proposed Action)
Under this alternative, the Assistant Secretary would
approve the mining plan for Federal lease C-0114093.
The Wadge and Wolf Creek coal seams would be mined by
area mining methods at an average production rate of
544,310.8 t (600,000 tons) per year, and the life-of-
mine would be about 14 years.
About 129.5 ha (320 ac) of the entire proposed permit
area (911.8 ha (2,253 ac)) is Federal surface. The
remaining 782.3 ha (1,933 ac) of the proposed permit
area is comprised of State and private surface. About
182.1 ha (450 ac) of the proposed permit area would be
disturbed under this alternative.
