'~i
Overburden Analysis
Analysis of the strata to be affected by Trinidad Basin
Mining was done by Colorado State University Soil Testing Lab
on core hole 04. This hole is plotted on the Revised Geologic
Map. The results of the tests are included along with the
fallowing discussion of each parameter.

The pH values range from 7.5 to 9.2 in the samples front
the core hole. Since none of the values are low there appear
to be no problems connected with acid materials at the site.
EC
The EC values range from 0.4 5.~, of which only sample
member 10 is above the 4.0 rating established by the Wyoming ~
<,
Guidelines as good for soil use. .Thus sample 010 overburden
material will be buried deep within the fill and should not lead
to any other problems.
Total Combustible Solids
Excluding the coal beds to. be removed (Sample 04,17,19) the
only problem foreseen is sample 010 which contains coal lenses.
However due to the position of the material it will be buried in
the fill and thus not problematic.

159
