• Toad be R1 e:'. [? 5[allOnS 0-'!Il end _60-~+$ Ril! :'.:[ dllU n_~h na[L1 al hlil ~IJpeS [hat esceid ju°n
in erade. phis ntears thu[ Figure ~.0=.~-10 1lould bi r~fzrerezd in [hz construction of the
road. Howzver. it has not been shown lvttich szetions of the Je[f Carron haul road kill exist
in unconsolidated ruck (cut slopes hmi[id io no stzzper than ~H:1 Vj, which kill exist in rock
(cut slopes limited to no steeper than 0.'_~H:1 V), and lehich will havz steeper slopes, nzzding
a giotechnical safzq factor analysis. Please provide this information.
It appears that a poriun of the Jeff Cam on haul road mac be proposed at a gradz stizper than
rzgulatoril} allolced. Section -1.03.1(3)(a)(iii) allows no section of haul road to bz stezpzr
than l3%. The hairpin turn binlzzn stations 12T-7a and 1~1=1 S seems to be proposed at
a 2~°./0 ~~rade. Please address this.
Please relocate the section of thz Jeff Cannon haul road bz[wzen stations 321+33 and 227-9~
out of the na«Iral draina~~e. This is rzgulatorily prohibited (Sectial X4.03.1(3)). ~k~e
recommend the road be built hiahzr on thz hillsidz.
A section of thz Lorencito Cam on haul road. immediatzly south of station 7~+d~, will bz
cut in a hillslopi w ith a grade of abou! 60°,'0. Pleasz providz a cross section for [his road cut.
Response
• Greystone is itt the process of preparing plan vizw and profiles for the haul roads. This
submittal includes plan view and profiles for Cow' Canyon and the Jeff Canyon haul road.
~J. ~Ve will provide [he Lorencito haul road and access road plans and profiles in the nzxt
pV~~" submi«al. Gre}~s[one is assuming that most road cuts will be in unconsolidated materials.
(1'~ I~~ `and will bz no sleeper than'_:1 (H:V), as identified on the plan view. Field installation
,,,,~yQ S~t,;rp~ may idzntify locations of consolidated materials. in which case LCC will use professional
Y~ ~~ judgement to dzcide which slopes will be cut to 015:1 and which will be cut at more
jY~ ;entle slopes. LCC has no plans at this time to install slopes steeper than 0.25:1 (H: V).
All sections of haul road located on natural hill slopes steeper than l~% will be constructed
on fill. The original slope of the hairpin turn between stations 123+7a and 1~1+13 is
currently a 3~ ~ grade. The slope will be filled to a grade of about 13% prior to the
construction of the haul road. Existing slopes and proposed fill slopes will be shown on
each haul road plan view and profile.
Figure 2A~.3-l la has been developed to represent road construction on a 60% fill slope.
1=?. The applicants response bears additional discussion. The Division asked whither there were
No anc bridges plannzd for thz portions of thz Corzncito Canyon haul road [hat cross the
perennial portions of the camon~s stream. or the drainages tributary to the canyon. Thi
risponsz was that no brides lczre planned. but that cuhzred fords are proposed in some
uses.
•
,;
