<br />;- <br />t~~; <br />Cooperative Extension Scrvlce <br />County Extension Office <br />County Court Hose Annex <br />Steamooat Sprinss, Colo., OOa77 <br />Colorado lline Reclamation Board <br />Denver, Colorado <br />Attention: Members of [he Board <br />Gentlemen: <br />October 20, 1977 ~ Phone 8790845 <br />On October 18, 1977, }rent Crofts, of Energy Fuels, called me to see Sf I had anyone <br />from the Colorado State University Range Science Department coming from Fert Collins <br />to R~utt Count;•. tiffs concern was to have one of these people look over two of [he <br />reclamation sites in Enersy's reclamation program. <br />The purpose of having someone from t}~e Range Science Department look these sites <br />over was to determine whether an adequate job of reclamation was.done and c.•::ether <br />the plant species planted and crowing have sufficient viability to support ~raling <br />and, thus, release these two sites from bond. <br />As [he field representative of Colorado State University activities in P.ouct County, <br />I felt I should contact the Range Science Department co see if this could ~e done. <br />Knowins at any time we could set snow cover to prevent onsite inspection c' the <br />sites, I called Dr. Eob Hyde, Extension Rance Specialist at Colorado Slate ^iversity, <br />to see if he might fly over while the weather was rood and an adequate insrec[ion <br />could be made. <br />On October 19, I accompanied Dr. Bob Hyde of Colorado State University and tient Crofts <br />of Energy Fuels, and inspected the two reclamation tracts, one on Fish Crec:: and the <br />other at Pit i'i3, near the old Sonny Liske ranch. <br />At each site we walked over the ground, examined the ground cover, slope, erosion, <br />plant species percentase and plant visor. <br />I will leave the professional opinions of these two sites to Dr. Hyde for f ur[hcr <br />comment and opinion. <br />I grew up in rinse country in northwest Colorado and eastern Utah, raised cattle all <br />of my life, have seen rinses that were abused, and I felt both of cticsc sites looked <br />excellent.
