The Division understands that, due to the recent
succession of operators from Sunflower Energy Corp. to Western Associated
Coal Corp., the review process has been somewhat delayed. As such, the final
decision to grant or deny your permit will alsu be delayed. However, in
order to continue the review period for the Blue Ribbon mine permit appli-
cation, it is essential that a substantial response to the concerns raised in
the April 23, 1981 Preliminary Adequacy Review of the application be
submitted to the Division as soon as possible. You have indicated that a
majority of the baseline data and other information currently being gathered
will be ready to submit by September 7, I981. This schedule is acceptable
to the Division as long as the response is substantial and includes a majority
of the necessary baseline information requested in the April 23, 1981 review
letter. Once this information is supplied, the review can continue in a
timely manner.
Please be advised that this situation will not affect the status of your current
permit as long as you continue to demonstrate a desire to~come into compliance
with our permanent program.
If you have~any questions concerning these or other matters, please do not
hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
/~'~ -
Tom Gillis
Reclamation Specialist
TG/mt
