ao
nniTH KIRK, MIKE MCCARTHY
DECEEIBER 26, 1979
PAGE -5-
18) Refer to page 780-106. The mining & reclamation sequence leaves out
redistribution of topsoil. I'm sure this is just an oversight and
is only brought to your attention as that.
19) Refer to page 780-111. The topsoil salvage plan for Energy Mine /E1
does not agree with baseline soil information. This information should
be used in the topsoil salvage plan.
20) Refer to 780-112, The extent of the old spoils to be used to backfill
part of the final 8050 pit is not accurately portrayed. A clear discussion
of the use of the old spoil is required.
21) Refer to 780-113. The variance request for the underground mine does not
meet the requirements of the regulations. Further discussion of this
,,.
point is needed. -. ~,,.,~;~„ S ~ ;:!'~ c4~'
22) Refer to 780-115. Amore thorough discussion of subsoil salvage and
the areas where this salvage will occur should be indicated on~ap.
23) Refer to 780-115. The applicant should indicate the rate of which mulch
will be applied to the topsoil and subsoil stockpiles. Also, what conditions
will warrant the construction of ditches around the stockplled soils?
24) Refer to 780-116. The applicant should indicate to what depth subsoil will
be replaced. A table could be used to demonstrate this.
25) Refer to 780-116. The applicant should indicate to cahat depth topsoil will
be replaced. A table could be used to demonstrate this. Show' depth
of soil replaced and amount of°ieceiving topsoil for each year.
26) The 1979 204 and 770 areas in the NWti of Section 17, T4N,1~86W will not
be backfilled until 1981. Please clarify how this complies with the
contemporaneous reclamation requirements. Also, it appears that the
area will have subsoil redistributed before the area is graded - Please
clarify.
27) What haul road will service the 3/1/80 204 box cut and 8050 pit?
28) It is not clear how spoil will be transported from the 1986 8050 pit to
the western part of the mine site.
Z9) What roads will be utilized to walk the draglines from the various pits?
Generally, the application should clearly identify how spoil will be handled,
i.e. how all the final cuts {both dragline and shovel) will be filled and
the source of this material. The haul road network to service all the pits
should be clearly indicated. The overburden volume calculations for each of
the pits should be submitted-include overburden volume, coal volume and
volume of pit to-_ be filled, The applicant should review the mine plan maps,
(cont'd)
